LGBTQ History Month, observed in October, celebrates the achievements and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals throughout history. Created in 1994 by Rodney Wilson, a Missouri high school history teacher, LGBTQ History Month coincides with National Coming Out Day (Oct. 11) and the first two LGBT Marches on Washington which took place in 1979 and 1987.
