AI, ChatGPT, and the Library

This guide provides a starting place for SLCC faculty, staff, and students to learn how generative AI intersects with information literacy and how to use it responsibly.

SLCC and the Institute on AI, Pedagogy, and the Curriculum

During the 2025-2025 academic year, a team from SLCC participated in AAC&U's Institute on AI, Pedagogy, and the Curriculum. As a part of the Institute, the team developed an AI-tool agnostic heuristic that focuses on key principles surrounding AI use in teaching and learning. For each principle, there are included definitions, examples, and questions to spark reflection and critical thought. This document could be used at either the faculty or department level to critically consider how AI is used - or not used - in the classroom and specific disciplines. A complementary generative AI decision tree can be used to help faculty decide if, when, and how to incorporate generative AI tools into their curriculum.
