The contest is open to current students, faculty, staff, and administrators of Salt Lake Community College. One entry will be allowed per person.

What's the criteria?

Entries must be:

  • Related to books, literature, or libraries;
  • Edible;
  • Original creations (non-commercial only).

When and where should I drop off my entry?

Entries will be accepted between 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22 at the Markosian Library main floor lobby, Taylorsville Redwood Campus. The Library has no facilities to hold entry items earlier than the posted entry times and no refrigeration available during the event. Returning bakers, please note that the cake drop off deadline is earlier than in past years.

We don't need anything from you before April 22!

What information do I need to provide with my entry?

You'll need to complete an entry form, with name, SLCC status, phone number, SLCC email address, ingredient list, method of preparation, and date & time of preparation. Entry forms will be available to fill out at drop-off. You are permitted to drop off entries for others, but be sure to have all contact information and an ingredient list to fill out the form for the person whose item is being entered. The contest is free to enter, limit one entry per person. All entries must be original (non-commercial) edible creations (in plain terms, you can't buy it from the store and your ingredients/decorations must be edible).

What will happen the day of the event?

Voting for People's Choice Award will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. by the public (one vote per person), at the same time as judging. Winners will be announced shortly after 2:00 p.m., after the votes have been tallied and the judges have made their final decisions. Winners do not need to be present to win. Entries are only eligible to win a single award. After the winners are announced, optional tastings for attendees will commence and continue until the samples run out. (Your entry will be eaten so take photos beforehand!) There will be a photographer present.

When should I pick up my serving plate & other items?

Items must be picked up by the end of the contest day, April 22. The library closes at midnight but we would prefer to have items picked up by 5:00 p.m.
