Due to limitations on public gatherings in light of COVID-19, the Library regretfully announces that the Edible Books Contest will be canceled this year.
While there won't be any fun cakes to view or eat this year, contestants will have an additional year to dream up new designs. Check back for information on Edible Books 2021 next year.

The Library is thrilled to announce that Edible Books 2020 will include the new prize category:
President Huftalin will select one entry to win this exciting award!
Prizes will be awarded by a special panel of judges in each of these three categories:
An additional prize will be chosen by votes by the public, one vote per person, open for votes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m:
Please note that entries are only eligible to win a single award.
The contest is open to current students, faculty, staff, and administrators of Salt Lake Community College. One entry will be allowed per person.
Entries must be:
Entries will be accepted between 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22 at the Markosian Library main floor lobby, Taylorsville Redwood Campus. The Library has no facilities to hold entry items earlier than the posted entry times and no refrigeration available during the event. Returning bakers, please note that the cake drop off deadline is earlier than in past years.
We don't need anything from you before April 22!
You'll need to complete an entry form, with name, SLCC status, phone number, SLCC email address, ingredient list, method of preparation, and date & time of preparation. Entry forms will be available to fill out at drop-off. You are permitted to drop off entries for others, but be sure to have all contact information and an ingredient list to fill out the form for the person whose item is being entered. The contest is free to enter, limit one entry per person. All entries must be original (non-commercial) edible creations (in plain terms, you can't buy it from the store and your ingredients/decorations must be edible).
Voting for People's Choice Award will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. by the public (one vote per person), at the same time as judging. Winners will be announced shortly after 2:00 p.m., after the votes have been tallied and the judges have made their final decisions. Winners do not need to be present to win. Entries are only eligible to win a single award. After the winners are announced, optional tastings for attendees will commence and continue until the samples run out. (Your entry will be eaten so take photos beforehand!) There will be a photographer present.
Items must be picked up by the end of the contest day, April 22. The library closes at midnight but we would prefer to have items picked up by 5:00 p.m.
